Alexander Ju
Alexander Ju is currently a sophomore at Governor Livingston High School in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. He began studying the piano at the age of 7 with Mr. Michael Thomopoulos at the Palisades School of Music.
He won First Prize in the Young Artists division of the 2013 Chopin International Competition in Hartford, Connecticut. Later that year, he reached the semi-final round of the Third Tureck International Bach Competition. Other awards included First Prize in the 2009 Steinway Society Scholarship Competition, Second Prize in the 2009 New Jersey Music Teachers’ Association Young Artists Competition, First Prize at the Junior competition during the 2012 University of Utah Summer Piano Performance Seminar, and Second Prize at the 2014 New Jersey Young Artists Piano Competition. He performed in the 2011 Northern Lights Music Festival in Aurora, Minnesota and participated in the master classes at the 2013 International Keyboard Institute and Festival, held at Mannes College in New York City.
